Florence nightingale was born in Italy but she came to England in 1821 because of the Crimean war.
Florence heard god telling her to care for others so she became a nurse and made doctors to wash there hands and to ware clean gloves and throw them away when they are done.
When she was in hospital, there were dusty floors, not enough medicine and beds. This meant that there was an early death soldiers.
She was known as "The Lady With The Lamp".
