queen Victoria was so sad after her husband died she wearied a lot of black for a very very long time   Image result for queen victoriashe was home schooled for all of her life and her dad died when she was only some month old.she was alive for 63 years witch is very long so she is the longest living so she is the longest living monarch.

Florence was born in the Victorian times. she had a dream of becoming the best nurse. when she grew older her dream became reality and she died as an important part of history. 






why is Florence famous?

Florence is well known for training nurses how unhygienic it was to not wash their hands after performing a surgery. it was then a new item as we still use now blue surgery gloves. they were put on and was changed for each patient. Florence was then known as the lady with the lamp. this is because she usually worked the night-shift.

There are lots of differences between hospitals in Victorian times and todays hospitals.  Todays hospitals are a lot cleaner. In Victorian times hospitals were very dirty and had dirty floors. They didn't have toilets and there was a lot of  infections.  The wards were a lot bigger in Victorian times and there were lots of people in one room. Today wards are small and have 4 or 6 people to a room.

Florence nightingale was born in Italy but she came to England in 1821 because of the Crimean war.

Florence heard god telling her to care for others so she became a nurse and made doctors to wash there hands and to ware clean gloves and throw them away when they are done.

The difference between hospitals in Victorian times and hospitals today are today's hospitals are a lot cleaner.  In Victorian times hospitals were very dirty and had dirty floors.They didn't have toilets and there was a lot of beds in one big room.  Today's hospitals have small wards with 4 or 6 beds in.

Hospitals nowadays are clean and hygienic. This helps patients so that they don't spread diseases in germs in hospitals. This all happened because Florence Nightingale encouraged the doctors in the Victorian hospitals to start to wash their hands.

Florence Nightingale was known as the "Lady with the Lamp" because she used to carry a lantern around with her by the soldiers that she cared for day and night. When it was dark, she carried a lantern with her so that she could see better.
