Florence is well known for training nurses how unhygienic it was to not wash their hands after performing a surgery. it was then a new item as we still use now blue surgery gloves. they were put on and was changed for each patient. There are lots of differences between hospitals in Victorian times and todays hospitals. Todays hospitals are a lot cleaner. In Victorian times hospitals were very dirty and had dirty floors. They didn't have toilets and there was a lot of infections. The wards were a lot bigger in Victorian times and there were lots of people in one room. Today wards are small and have 4 or 6 people to a room.
